The Long Term Substitute Nurse is responsible for all issues relating to the health and welfare of the students during their attendance at the school.

Responsibilities

Acts as long term substitute nurse on the 31st St. campus for kindergarten through 8th grade students. Position is from January 5th, 2026 - May 22nd, 2026 and is either full time OR Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

Provide services and assist in the effective implementation of Health Services program in an assignment that is subject to change based upon need.

Work collaboratively with the Head School Nurse and the primary school nurse regularly assigned to a campus.

Communicate changes or concerns to the Head School Nurse and or division head if indicated.

Provide emergency and or acute care for specific students as directed and according to school policy and procedures.

Manage the activities/care and needs of a school in the absence of the regularly assigned nurse.

Maintain appropriate documentation in Magnus or other systems as directed by the primary campus nurse.

Assist campus nurse with documentation and reports.

Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of children’s intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development.

Highly motivated with outstanding oral, written, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to create and maintain an environment conducive to learning.

Demonstrates sensitivity, good judgment, and confidentiality in working with students and parents.

Experience with Student Medical Record Software (i.e., Magnus Health, CareFlow).

Qualifications

Proficient in School Nursing and School Health practices.

Strong foundational knowledge of Medicine and Nursing.

Experience or specialization in Pediatrics.

Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Ability to assess and respond effectively to health emergencies.

Valid nursing license and relevant certifications.

Experience working in school or educational settings is preferred.

Commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive school community.

Qualifications: Education and Experience Minimum of two years’ professional nursing experience, preferably in a school or pediatric setting.
