Job Summary The Direct Support Professional will provide support and assistance to people with developmental, physical, and psychiatric disabilities as needed based on the needs of the residential program assigned. The role involves daily intervention, supervision, and skills training in activities of daily living while managing within a home environment and in the community. Staff will receive specialized training to provide enhanced supervision or interventions designed to address multiple disabilities, including behavioral support or enhanced medical care.

Schedule Wednesday - Saturday, AWAKE 11:00 pm–9:00 am (40 hours)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Provide support and assist people with skills training in all activities of daily living during the day, evening, and/or overnight hours.

Create opportunities and provide support to facilitate decisions that develop skills and foster independence.

Provide services in accordance with DDS, DMH, MassHealth, HUD, DPH, CARF, and all applicable regulatory standards, as well as Bridgewell policies and procedures.

Support medical, clinical, and financial needs.

Transport and accompany people to and from medical, recreational, and other activities outside the program.

Maintain daily progress notes, shift checklists, shift assignments, and other required documentation.

Complete household cleaning duties as assigned.

Conduct all steady care calls per guidelines (applies to all awake overnight shifts).

Assist accessing resources and recreational opportunities in the community.

Administer medications in accordance with MAP regulations, as applicable.

Maintain mandatory training certifications such as FA/CPR, PABC, and MAP.

Maintain additional mandated certifications and training as required by the program and Bridgewell policies.

Develop positive relationships with guardians, family members, and other stakeholders.

Serve as the program’s Fire Safety Officer, Safety Coordinator, or Human Rights Officer.

Comply with Bridgewell Safety Checks Policy.

Attend and participate in program staff meetings and supervision meetings.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education/Experience

High school diploma or GED, or at least 5+ years of verified experience in the same position.

Minimum of 1 year of experience working with people who have developmental or psychiatric disabilities (preferred).

Required Skills and Knowledge

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Excellent organizational and problem‑solving skills.

Computer literacy, including proficiency with Microsoft products (Email, Word, Excel, etc.) and web‑based applications.

Valid U.S. driver's license with at least one year of driving experience in the United States; ability to drive a large and/or wheelchair van.

Physical Demands The physical demands of this role involve maneuvering people of varying weights and providing lifting, balanced support, and physical intervention in a few scenarios. Essential requirements include climbing stairs, physically assisting people, and other tasks such as aiding bathroom routines, and additional lifting or moving as part of daily activities.

The pay range listed for this position is the hourly rate range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, or other applicable factors permissible by law.

Salary: $20.68 – $21.28 per hour
