The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers who ensure that patients, families and significant others receive individualized high quality, safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders and supported through the Wellstar Shared Governance Model. The framework for practice is steered by the Wellstar Professional Practice Model, evidence-based practice and research. RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by Wellstar Values. The RN upholds the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act, implements the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards of the American Nurses Association, and supports service excellence goals while upholding the voice of the patient and adherence to system policies and procedures. Core Responsibilities And Essential Functions
Performs the Nursing Process (assessment; diagnosis; outcome identification; planning; implementation and evaluation) in clinical care using evidence-based practice, with individualized care and effective coordination through partnerships. Provides relationship-based, patient-centered care reflecting population characteristics and cultural diversity. Partners with the patient and family using bedside shift reports, interdisciplinary rounds, just-in-time and planned patient teaching; keeps patients goals as the focus of the care plan. Practices using current clinical standards. Teamwork and Collaboration
Coordinates safe, high-quality patient care and documentation, promotes interdisciplinary communication, timely documentation, and a respectful, inclusive clinical environment. Demonstrates teamwork and collaboration while practicing in a fiscally responsible manner and promoting recruitment and retention of healthcare team members. Participates in performance improvement activities, supports research utilization, and promotes inter/intra-disciplinary processes and shared governance at all levels. Professional Development and Initiative
Completes initial and ongoing professional competency assessments and mandatory education; engages in population-specific education. Serves as a preceptor and/or mentor for other nurses and staff to maintain a qualified workforce and model professional nursing practice. Evidence Based Practice and Research
Promotes evidence-based practice, nursing research and performance improvement; participates in value analysis and uses data to evaluate patient care products. Follows organizational policies, legal/regulatory requirements and standards, including safety goals and competencies. Participates in data collection, asks clinical questions, and uses evidence to address practice questions with appropriate experts. Resources and Support
Plans care across the care continuum while providing direct patient care. Contributes to protocol and procedure development with care managers and the health care team to improve outcomes (e.g., reduce readmissions, adverse events). Supports efficient and effective use of human and material resources. Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct. Education and Licensure
Required Minimum Education : Diploma from an accredited nursing program; graduation from an accredited/approved school of nursing. Preferred: Bachelor's Degree (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing. Required Minimum Licenses and Certifications : Licensure as a Registered Nurse (single state) or RN – Multi-state Compact; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (Instructor designation allowed). Additional Licenses/Certifications : As required by role and facility. Experience and Skills
Required Minimum Experience : Less than 1 year with completion of accredited nursing program and requisite clinical hours. Direct Patient Care Experience
is preferred. Required Minimum Skills : Ability to read, write and speak English; proficient with technology to support clinical care; basic computer skills; strong interpersonal and customer service skills; ability to function in a fast-paced environment and respond to emergencies; excellent time management; evidence-based nursing practice and strong critical thinking skills.
