Job Summary Surgical providers care for adult and/or pediatric patients and specialize in Cardio‑Thoracic/Vascular Surgery.
Schedule
Monday–Friday 7 a.m. – 4 p.m.
1 in 6 call week, 1 in 6 weekend
10–12 patients per day
ICU / OR / Clinic / Float rotations
Essential Functions
Perform comprehensive or problem‑focused physical examinations and obtain medical histories.
Order, collect, interpret, and evaluate laboratory and diagnostic tests.
Prescribe and manage therapeutic agents or procedures within scope of practice and based on evidence‑based medicine.
Develop and implement patient‑centered treatment plans in collaboration with physicians and interdisciplinary team members.
Provide patient and family counseling on medical conditions, medications, nutrition, and health promotion.
Maintain accurate medical records and initiate timely consultations or referrals when scope of practice is exceeded.
Serve as first or second assistant in the operating room, performing indicated procedures such as endoscopic vein harvest for cardiac, vascular, and thoracic surgery.
Follow up with patients pre‑ and post‑operatively, conduct inpatient rounds, and provide care in the emergency department.
Key Success Factors
Knowledge of diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Interpersonal and critical‑thinking skills for complex problem solving.
Proficiency in computers and related software applications.
Current Texas PA license and NCCPA certification.
Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire or transfer.
