Position Overview The Sonographer III provides high‑quality patient care while performing diagnostic sonographic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention. This role requires advanced technical skills, strong organizational abilities, and a commitment to compassionate care.
Responsibilities
Act as sonography section leader, representing ultrasonography to Imaging Services Manager for equipment, technical, and personnel considerations.
Work closely with radiologists to perform diagnostic sonographic exams.
Exercise professional judgment and maintain a demeanor complimentary to quality care.
Deliver appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring successful completion of procedures.
Comply with all state and federal regulations applicable to each modality.
Assess patient’s physical condition and age‑specific needs.
Provide clear instructions to achieve patient cooperation and desired results.
Perform proper patient identification, acquire clinical history, and ensure accurate documentation.
Position patient and equipment to achieve high‑quality images for interpretation.
Assess diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, and patient identification.
Comply with Quality Control standards and participate in QC tasks.
Administer medical aid in emergency situations.
Assist in supervising student sonographers and training new team members.
Qualifications Education & Training
Graduate of an accredited school of sonography.
Meets American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS) eligibility guidelines.
Licensure & Certification
Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) through ARDMS.
Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
Maintains RDMS physics registry and three ARDMS registries.
Experience
Minimum 2 years of sonography experience.
Knowledge of routine ultrasound procedures, including invasive procedures such as:
Biopsies
Amniocentesis
Thoracentesis
Breast cyst aspiration
Breast localization
Familiarity with Doppler, 3D/4D, and pediatric sonography.
