Responsibilities

Budgeting & Planning: Support the development and management of the organization’s annual budget in collaboration with the CEO and leadership team.

Financial Reporting: Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for internal and external stakeholders, including the Board of Directors.

Cash Flow & Financial Oversight: Monitor cash flow, manage accounts, and oversee day-to-day financial transactions to ensure financial stability.

Compliance & Regulation: Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations, including nonprofit-specific requirements.

Audit & Tax Filings: Coordinate annual audits and ensure timely preparation and filing of IRS Form 990 and other required tax documents.

Grant & Program Financial Management: Track grant budgets, spending, and reporting requirements to support program success and funder compliance.

Financial Operations Support: Support COO in overseeing the accounting processes and systems.

Fundraising Support: Provide financial analysis and projections to support grant proposals, donor reporting, and fundraising strategy.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; Master’s degree a plus.

3-5 years of experience in financial management, with a strong preference for experience in the nonprofit sector.

Solid understanding of nonprofit accounting practices, including fund accounting and grant reporting.

Proficiency with financial management software, preferably Sage Intacct or similar platforms.

Advanced skills in Excel and Google Sheets, with the ability to analyze and present financial data clearly.

Exceptional attention to detail, integrity, and organizational skills.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey financial information to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work

Preferred Skills

Familiarity with managing restricted and unrestricted funds in a nonprofit setting.

Knowledge of grant compliance, including tracking, reporting, and alignment with funder requirements.

Experience collaborating with Boards of Directors and audit committees, including preparing financial reports and presenting key financial insights.
