Qualities & Experience

Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state.

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is preferred initially and required after 90 days; ACLS is required from day 1 for all Charge Nurses, High Obs, and ICU.

Minimum one year of experience in acute care, critical care, ICU, long‑term acute care hospitals (LTACH), or other hospital‑based settings.

One year of inpatient medical‑surgical nursing experience and supervisory experience is preferred.

Prior leadership experience as an Assistant Chief Nursing Officer (ACNO), House Supervisor, or Charge Nurse is highly preferred.

Preferred but not required: prior experience in emergency or critical care environments; higher comfort level working with ventilators, tracheostomies, PICC lines; two years of experience in direct patient care.

Key Responsibilities

Provide clinical leadership with the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO)/Director of Nursing (DON) and assume nursing administrative decisions in the absence of the CNO/DON.

Focus on nursing staffing and assignments, performance evaluation, clinical and administrative decision‑making related to nursing care, and continuous improvement of nursing and rehabilitation care.

Be responsible and accountable for assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and maintaining quality nursing care on the unit.
