Responsibilities

Standards of Practice:

Guided by the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice (2015), includes assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, evaluation, coordination of care, health teaching and promotion.

Standards of Professional Performance:

Includes ethics, cultural congruence, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice, quality of practice, professional practice evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health.

Qualifications

Education:

Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. BSN preferred. All newly hired registered nurses must have current BCLS certification or obtain it within one month of hire.

Experience:

Intraoperative RN experience required; cardiac OR experience strongly preferred.

License:

Licensed and currently a registered nurse in the State of Connecticut. Clinical specialty certification highly encouraged.

Special Skills:

All RNs encouraged to advance through the SPIRE clinical advancement program.

Physical Demand:

Requires prolonged standing, walking, use of sight, hearing, and touch; may be exposed to infectious diseases; moderate stress; ability to assist moving patients ranging from 5 to 300 pounds.

Additional Information Intraoperative RN experience required; cardiac OR experience strongly preferred.
