Works under the supervision of the Nurse manager and the Director and is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluating the total nursing care of assigned patients. The RN may work in a variety of settings in the Critical Care/Telemetry Complex and roles within Riverside Health System. The RN utilizes communication, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making to create a care plan for each patient based on physiological, psychosocial and cultural diversity. Responsible for supervising and delegating non‑professional personnel working directly with him or her to ensure optimum patient care. Must demonstrate competence in dealing with age‑related needs of the specific patient populations served in the Critical Care/Telemetry units/departments. Works under the direction of leadership and a multi-disciplinary team to provide a comprehensive range of services or clinical care associated with and in accordance with standards of excellence established by Riverside Health system and facility goals and strategic plans.
What You Will Do
Demonstrate ability to assess patient clinical and psychosocial needs by applying standards of practice as it relates to the specialty or patient population served in the Critical Care/Telemetry units/departments.
Partner with patients and families to develop, implement and evaluate a plan of care, treatments and procedures that contribute to the physiological and psychosocial outcomes of the patient; assess and incorporate evidence-based standards of practice; collaborate with interdisciplinary team in the coordination of care; facilitate safe patient transitions to the next care setting as part of the plan of care.
Demonstrate understanding of diverse patient care populations and ability to modify education method to ensure patient/family comprehension; educate by assuming responsibility to individualize and coordinate patient education, and discharge specific education that includes family/caregiver; evaluate for patient comprehension and document.
Delegate and prioritize tasks appropriately to facilitate quality patient care and ensure patient care needs are met; recognize and respond to emergency situations; evaluate own needs for support and use identified systems to meet need.
Accurately complete all required clinical and quality documentation consistently per RHS standards and regulatory requirements.
Demonstrate a sense of urgency to facilitate patient throughput to assure patients receive consistent, competent, and ethical care; focus on quality outcomes of patient care when addressing customer’s needs to include current evidence-based practice and quality measures.
Qualifications Education Bachelors Degree, Nursing (Preferred)
Experience Critical care experience (Preferred)
Licenses and Certifications
Registered Nurse (RN) – Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) (Required)
CPR/BLS Certification – American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) (Required)
