Staff Nurse – Med/Surg Telemetry – Mount Sinai West
Full‑time Night shift (7:00 pm – 7:30 am) plus every other weekend.
Join a dedicated care team delivering high‑quality acute nursing care in a fast‑paced environment. Responsibilities
Conduct nursing assessment based on interview, examination, observation, and review of patient records. Document care progress and revise care plans as needed. Perform discharge planning consistent with patient status and coordinate inter‑departmental communication. Communicate information to patients, respecting their level of awareness and readiness to learn. Support orientation of new staff, acting as a preceptor and role model. Serve as a professional role model and mentor for students and volunteers. Allocate patient care assignments with an awareness of needs and skill level. Prioritize patient and unit needs to organize care provision. Report patient status and unit needs requiring additional intervention to nursing leadership. Participate in staff development and practice appraisal. Collaborate with peers to meet patient and unit needs through effective communication. Provide direction, assistance, and support to the team. Assume accountability for the quality of assigned tasks. Notify supervisors of the need for further staff education. Engage nursing leadership to ensure awareness of responsibilities and collaborative efforts. Qualifications
Strong capacity to learn, synthesize, make critical judgments, and place patients and families first. At least one year of acute‑care RN experience required. Relevant clinical competence in nursing practice is essential. Medical/Surgical RN experience – Telemetry preferred. BLS certification (American Heart Association) required. ACLS certification (American Heart Association) required. Telemetry certification a plus. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing / BSN required. Current New York State RN license (or willingness to obtain).
