Triage Registered Nurse (RN)
to join their growing team!
Job Overview As an experienced practitioner, the Triage Nurse is responsible for assessing patients, determining the severity of patients’ conditions, and prioritizing care based on the urgency of symptoms.
Applicants with Athena EMR experience will be given priority.
Responsibilities
Performs telephone triage, patient education, handling of physician phone calls, pharmacy calls; may assist by calling to set up appointments or arrange hospital tests or admissions
Completes paperwork such as refilling medication, ordering lab tests, x-rays, school/work notes, FMLA, etc.
Assesses patients and determines priority and refers for emergency care
Counsels patients concerning lifestyle modifications, medication regimens, side effects, and interactions using an appropriate psychosocial communication level
Communicates to patients and office coordinators follow-up appointments, ancillary and/or pre‑operative testing and scheduling needed for patient
Coordinates ordering of tests/procedures with other clinical staff
Responds to patient questions and concerns as liaison between physician and patient
Develops office protocols and training documents
Reports all test results to the patient as directed by the physician
Qualifications
Graduate from an accredited school of nursing required
State of Michigan RN License required
BLS certification required
At least one year of working experience as an RN required
Athena EMR experience highly preferred
OB/GYN experience preferred, but not required
