Specialist position for Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) laboratory
Specializes in genetic testing to match donors and recipients for transplants
Diagnoses diseases by analyzing immune system markers to determine tissue compatibility

Job Summary Responsible for pre‑analytical, analytical, and post‑analytical phases of testing. Follows standard operating procedures and ensures laboratory safety, quality and regulatory requirements are met. Collect laboratory specimens, as needed. Process lab specimens and perform clinical laboratory testing, including manual and automated methods, in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures. Demonstrate skill in use of equipment relevant to position.
Responsibilities
Demonstrate critical and independent judgement in decision‑making and problem‑solving.
Demonstrate personal commitment to the principles, values, and ethics of the organization to promote a positive work environment.
Seek personal learning opportunities and recognize safety hazards in compliance with all safety practices and protocols.
Assist in training new staff and serve as a laboratory resource.
Perform other related duties as assigned and may be required to travel to other locations.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in laboratory or biological sciences.
National certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) through an approved Health and Human Services (HHS) agency (e.g., American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)) or registry eligibility.
Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) also acceptable.
Registry‑eligible candidates must successfully complete the Board of Registry examination within 12 months of employment.
Must be licensed by the North Dakota Board of Clinical Laboratory Practice if working in North Dakota.
Maintain continuing education credits equivalent to the state requirements as needed for license and certifications.
May be required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
