Description The Director of Consumer Lending leads the strategy, operations, and performance of the consumer lending division. This role oversees underwriting, processing, and servicing while driving process improvements, technology enhancements, and strong portfolio performance. The Director ensures lending practices align with organizational goals, regulatory requirements, and risk standards.

This is an on-site position.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the consumer lending team. Develop and refine policies, workflows, and processes. Monitor KPIs to drive performance and ensure efficient, compliant operations.

Oversee consumer loan underwriting. Balance profitability with risk, structure loan terms appropriately, and assess creditworthiness using financial data and credit reports.

Partner with Marketing on loan product development and promotions. Collaborate across departments to support organizational initiatives.

Enhance automation and workflow efficiency. Maintain and optimize the decision engine within the Loan Origination System. Coordinate needs with Information Systems.

Ensure all loans and documentation meet credit union, state, and federal requirements.

Verify application completeness and accuracy. Maintain strong internal controls and risk practices.

Provide coaching, guidance, and professional development to support team capability and growth.

Requirements

5–7 years of progressive experience in consumer lending, including at least 5 years in a leadership role.

Strong knowledge of consumer lending regulations, underwriting standards, and risk management practices.

Demonstrated ability to lead teams, develop policies, and implement operational and process improvements.

Experience with loan origination systems (LOS), decision engines, and integrated technologies (e.g., Loan Director, fiVision, Fiserv DNA Core).

Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Bachelor’s degree
