About the Unit
4E is a 24-bed Med/Surg unit at Blodgett Hospital that cares for general medical and surgical patients. Employees are often drawn to 4E for the variety of patients and the team environment. Our staff become competent in caring for a large array of both surgical and medical patients. The team is known for expertise in nasogastric tubes, urinary catheters, urologic care, enteral and parenteral feeding, and the care of wounds, ostomies, tubes, and drains.

Scope of Work Acts as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider. Performs basic skills per department guidelines and communicates observations to members of the health care team. Collects and reports physiological, psychological, sociocultural, and spiritual needs of patients and families in coordination with the RN or Provider.
Taking vitals, checking blood sugars, bed bathing, ambulating, wound care, catheterization
Acting as a safety attendant for patients
Ensuring required documentation is performed accurately and timely
Qualifications
High School Diploma or Work Equivalent
AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within 90 days
