Job Summary
Assists in patient care and preparation of surgical patients; performs scrub duties and related procedures in accordance with their license; accountable for ensuring maintenance of sterile field and supplies/equipment for selected specialty. Performs in the advanced roles of preceptor, service specialist and understands sterile technique for instruments and surgical situations.
Responsibilities
Assists surgical team in the scrubbing role according to prescribed standards and licensure.
Maintains sterile field; reports immediately any breaks in aseptic technique.
Passes instruments, suture products, medication, and sponge materials to surgeon.
Assists with retracting of tissue and organs, and suctioning by holding the retracting instrument placed by the surgeon.
Electrosurgical current may be applied as directed by the surgeon to an established instrument placed by the surgeon.
Performs surgical counts with the RN according to policy and procedure.
Ensures appropriate equipment and supplies are available for each procedure.
Assists in housekeeping duties as directed for a safe patient environment.
Assists RN with duties as needed while under direct supervision.
Proficiently functions in the scrub role for all services provided.
Qualifications
High school diploma/GED
Minimum Of Two (2) Years Of Surgical Experience
Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) OR Technologist in Surgery-Certified (TS-C)
Basic Life Support (AHA BLS-CPR)

Pay Range $26.76 - $39.81 /hour
