Physical Requirements:
Requires the ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull 50‑100 pounds on a daily basis; stand, walk, and sit for long periods of time; and be exposed to communicable diseases and injury from intractable patients or sharp instruments.
Shift:
Shift varies depending on contract level agreement; level agreements include a minimum total of hours, a minimum prescheduled hours per week and a minimum number of weekend hours per 6‑week schedule.
Job Summary The Paramedic will work in the Level 1 Trauma Center to complement the nursing role. Duties of this position include performing patient care duties utilizing a team approach in collaboration with RNs, MDs, and other members of the comprehensive healthcare team; and organizing, prioritizing, and delivering direct patient care based on the determined scope of practice within the hospital setting. Current Kentucky Paramedic Certification or License, Nationally Registered EMT (NREMT), American Heart Association (BLS), ACLS, and PALS certifications are required.
Key Responsibilities
Perform patient care duties utilizing a team approach with RNs, MDs, and other healthcare team members.
Organize, prioritize, and deliver direct patient care based on scope of practice within a hospital setting.
Assist in monitoring vital signs; inserting IVs, NGTs, and urinary catheters.
Assist with 12‑lead EKGs, wound care, suctioning, and completing proper documentation.
Qualifications and Certifications
High School diploma or GED required; preferred two years of paramedic experience.
KY Certified Paramedic and valid Driver’s License.
Current Kentucky Paramedic Certification or License.
Nationally Registered EMT (NREMT).
American Heart Association certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS.
