We are seeking a neonatal intensive care registered nurse to provide specialized care to critically ill and premature newborns at a local hospital’s NICU.
Required Qualifications
One year of recent experience as a neonatal intensive care RN
Valid RN license in Texas
Current BLS (AHA/ARC) certification
Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
Preferred Qualifications
Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing Certification (RNC‑NIC)
PALS (AHA/ARC) or ENPC
Any additional certifications or licenses relevant to neonatal care
Responsibilities
Assess and monitor critically ill and premature newborns, documenting changes and responses
Administer prescribed medications and treatments following neonatal nursing protocols
Perform neonatal assessments: vital signs, weight checks, specialized screenings
Operate and manage advanced NICU equipment including ventilators, CPAP machines, and infusion pumps
Assist with life‑saving and diagnostic procedures such as umbilical line placement and intubation
Educate and support parents on neonatal care, feeding, and developmental activities
Prepare equipment and aid physicians during examinations and procedures
Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team
Adhere to infection control measures and hospital safety protocols
Collaborate with neonatologists, therapists, and other specialists to optimize outcomes
Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice
