Mental Health Technician - Inpatient Behavioral Health - FT Days
Location: UH Lakewood Medical Center, Kansas City, Missouri.
Schedule: 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM, 3 days per week (36 hours per week).
Job Summary: Provide patient care, assist with daily activities, support therapeutic environment, and work hand-in-hand with licensed nursing staff.
Key Responsibilities
Help patients with daily activities and provide direct care under the supervision of nursing staff.
Keep the environment supportive, safe, and positive for everyone.
Perform a variety of duties, from clerical tasks to clinical support, ensuring no two days are the same.
Use compassion and skills to help patients feel at ease and supported.
Minimum Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent.
Obtain BCLS certification within 120 days of hire and maintain it for continued employment.
Clearance through the Family Care Registry.
Completion of training as directed during orientation and/or by Leadership, Management, or Educators within the established timeline.
Department orientation with classroom and clinical training equivalent to Unlicensed Assistive Personnel (UAP) regulations (or meet specific background criteria listed below).
Must Meet One Of The Following
Enrolled in a professional or practical nursing program and completed a fundamentals of nursing course.
Former nursing licensure candidate who failed to pass the state licensure exam in the past 3 years.
Certified nursing assistant per state regulation.
Certified or trained in UAP curriculum.
Has documented experience as a nurse assistant, EMT, or surgical technician in the past 3 years.
Completed UAP training in Missouri within the last 3 years.
Completed a professional or practical nursing program outside the U.S. and awaiting licensure in the U.S.
UAPs from staffing agencies complying with training requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in patient care, including assistance with activities of daily living (ambulation, feeding, etc.).
Previous mental health experience.
BCLS certification.
