About The Position Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a skilled Labor and Delivery RN for a 13‑week travel assignment in Galesburg, IL. Required Qualifications
One year recent experience as a Labor and Delivery RN
Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) Certification
Preferred Qualifications
AWHONN Fetal Monitoring Certification
ACLS and STABLE Certifications (AHA/ARC)
Other relevant certifications and licenses may be required
Essential Work Functions
Communicate labor and delivery procedures to patients and families, providing reassurance and addressing concerns
Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved obstetric nursing techniques
Prepare equipment and aid physician during labor, delivery, and examination of patients
Provide immediate postpartum care, including assessment and stabilization of mother and newborn
Educate patients and families on postpartum recovery, breastfeeding, and newborn care
Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, neonatologists, and other team members to deliver cohesive care
Respond to obstetric emergencies, including preeclampsia, hemorrhage, or fetal distress, using evidence‑based protocols
Document patient care, assessments, and interventions accurately in the medical record
Participate in quality‑improvement initiatives to enhance maternal and neonatal outcomes
Perform fetal monitoring and interpret results
Assist in cesarean sections and other obstetric procedures
Comply with all regulatory standards, including hospital policies, state laws, and federal guidelines for obstetric nursing care
Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of labor and delivery nursing
Required Essential Skills

Strong interpersonal communication skills
English language proficiency for reading, writing, and communication
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and proficiency with PC skills
Physical ability to remain stationary, move equipment (50‑100 lbs), and perform associated tasks
Interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse personnel
Technical and motor skills for fine manipulation and support during procedures
Mental resilience to manage frequent contact with the public and work under pressure
Visual acuity and effective communication abilities
