Christus Santa Rosa Hospital – New Braunfels (CSRH‑NB) is a 94‑bed facility that serves the growing community of New Braunfels. The hospital offers a full‑service program that includes outpatient imaging, orthopedic and surgical services, rehabilitation, a renovated birthing center with 24/7 neonatal coverage, emergency care, wound care/hyperbaric center, 3D mammography, and comprehensive heart care.
Description
This role provides postoperative care in the Post‑Acute Care Unit (PACU). The RN delivers timely, patient‑centered care using critical thinking and advanced nursing skills. The RN collaborates with physicians, therapists, aides, and other team members to manage complex postoperative patients.
Summary The competent nurse, in a similar clinical setting, practices independently and demonstrates awareness of all aspects of clinical situations. The RN provides routine and complex care and manages contingencies in the care of patients. The RN delegates and supervises to maintain high standards of patient safety.
Responsibilities
Meets expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
Provides nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients, in accordance with the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice.
Addresses increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with their level of practice.
Administers medications and treatments; monitors for side‑effects and effectiveness of the prescribed treatment.
Documents patient history, symptoms, medication, and care given.
Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and caregivers; identifies issues and resources.
Job Requirements Education & Skills
Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing, preferred.
Experience
1 year of experience in a related nursing specialty preferred.
Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications
BLS required.
RN license in state of employment or in a compact.
ACLS certification required.
PALS or ENPC certification required.
Position Requirements
All newly hired experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire.
New hires are precepted by a designated trained staff member and initial onboarding requirements are validated through successful completion of the designated organizational entry competency validation and a peri‑operative department‑specific competency validation.
Completion of all annual competency verification requirements.
Credential Grace Periods
BLS – No grace period. AHA or Red Cross accepted at time of hire.
ACLS – Within 30 days of hire.
PALS – Within 30 days of hire.
Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum (TNCC) – Within 60 days of hire.
Trauma Care After Resuscitation (TCAR) – Within 60 days of hire.
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – Within 30 days of hire.
AWHONN INTERMEDIATE FHM – Within 30 days of hire.
STABLE – Within 30 days of hire.
Work Schedule: 3 days – 12 hours per shift.
Work Type: Full‑time.
Salary: $60,150.00 – $98,020.00 per year.
Location: New Braunfels, TX.
