Unit-level responsibility for practice, quality of care, and service delivered. Lead and support staff development and performance. Manage personnel, supplies, and equipment cost-effectively. Qualifications
Education
– Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Bachelor’s Degree Science of Nursing (BSN) required for all Ochsner Magnet Facilities. Work Experience
– 3 years of RN experience including 1 year as a charge nurse, supervisor, or leader. Certifications
– Current RN license in state of practice. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through American Heart Association. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
Knowledge of nursing practice. Exceptional leadership skills. Good organizational and time management skills and ability to be self-directed. Job Duties
Ensures quality of care and patient satisfaction through unit-specific systems and improvements. Ensures operational profitability with preliminary budgets, performance data, system reporting, and inventory management. Provides care to patients, effectively using the nursing process. Communicates pertinent information to patients, families, and staff. Participates in activities for professional development and maintains required clinical knowledge, technical skills, training, and credentials. Manages, develops, retains, and inspires an engaged workforce. Performs other related duties as required. Physical and Environmental Demands
Medium Work – Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The incumbent works in a patient care area with exposure to blood, body fluid, and tissue. Occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous medications is present.
