Controls Engineer / PLC Programmer

Manpower Engineering is seeking a hands‑on Controls Engineer / PLC Programmer to join our client’s innovation team and help develop a cutting‑edge prototype for automated restaurant equipment. This contract role is anticipated to last at least 6 months, with possible consideration to extend or convert to a permanent hire.
Key Responsibilities
Design and implement ladder logic programs from templates and from scratch.
Collaborate with design engineers to specify sensors, motors, and electrical components.
Complete electrical BOM and create control wiring diagrams.
Integrate and debug motion systems, stepper motors, gantry systems, and sensors.
Program and test motion, recovery, and fault sequences for a 3‑axis stepper‑based motion system.
Ensure compliance with ANSI/CE/TUV or UL standards.
Required Skills & Experience
5+ years of PLC programming experience.
Strong ladder logic programming and debugging skills.
Experience with AutomationDirect PLCs preferred but not required. Rockwell, Allen‑Bradley or Siemens experience is also acceptable.
Knowledge of sensors, stepper motors, and other electrical components.
Ability to build, wire, and troubleshoot panels & devices (120 VAC & low voltage).
Ability to read, modify, and create wiring diagrams.
Familiarity with recipe/data management, remote data logging, or MQTT protocol is a plus.
