Responsibilities What you get to do every day:
Develop andmaintainbackend services and middleware components supporting secure government applications using Python and SQL.
Build and integrate APIs for internal and external system communication withappropriate securitycontrols and error handling.
Implement messaging solutions using Kafka, RabbitMQ, or Pulsar to support asynchronous processing and event‑driven workflows.
Work with relational databases and data warehouses, particularly PostgreSQL variants (AWS RDS, Aurora, Redshift, Timescale DB), to build efficient data access layers andoptimizequery performance.
Develop containerized applications using Docker and support deployment to Kubernetes clusters.
Write automated tests including unit tests, integration tests, and end‑to‑end test scenarios to ensure code quality and reliability.
Implement authentication and authorization mechanisms following security best practices and compliance requirements.
Participate in GitLab CI/CD pipeline development and maintenance to automate software delivery processes.
Perform data parsing, transformation, and validation tasks to support application data flows and ETL processes.
Troubleshoot and resolve application issues using systematic debugging approaches and Linux command line tools.
Collaborate with team members in Agile/Scrum ceremonies including sprint planning, daily standups, and retrospectives.
Document technical designs, API specifications, and operational procedures for developed solutions.
Qualifications Clearance Required:
Active TS clearance (with SCI Eligibility) and eligibility to obtain CI Poly We are not able to upgrade or sponsor clearances
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education, technical training, or work/military experience
4-6 years of professional software development experience with focus on backend development
Required Skills:
Strongproficiencyin Python withdemonstratedability to write clean, maintainable code
Solid SQL skills including writing complex queries, joins, subqueries, CTEs, understanding database relationships, and query optimization
Hands‑on experience working with PostgreSQL or similar relational databases in production environments
Experience developing RESTful APIs with proper error handling and documentation
Experience with GitLab or similar CI/CD platforms for automated builds and deployments
Proficiencywith Linux command line, particularly RHEL or Rocky Linux environments
Experience writing automated tests using standard testing frameworks
Solid troubleshooting and debugging skills with ability to investigate issues systematically
Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments
Good communicationskills and ability to work collaboratively in team settings
Preferred Skills:
Working knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript, Scala, or other programming languages
Familiarity with at least one messaging platform (Kafka, RabbitMQ, or Pulsar)
Understanding ofauthentication and authorization concepts (OAuth, JWT, SAML, etc.)
Knowledge of data transformation and ETL pipeline development
Familiarity withadditionalAWS cloud services beyond databases
SAFeAgile certification or experience
Background working in secure government environments
What is ideal?
Hands‑on experience with Docker containerization and basic Kubernetes concepts
Familiarity with advanced deployment strategies (blue/green, canary, feature flags)
Experience with identity management systems
Exposure to geospatial data processing,PostGIS, or libraries like GDAL
Experience with stream processing tools like Spark Streaming or Flink
Intelligence Community Experience preferred
