Your Mission As Founding Staff Engineer, you'll work closely with our CTO to architect and scale the technical foundation of MeAgain. You'll own critical systems across the stack - from backend to mobile - and set the engineering culture for the years ahead.

What You’ll Build & Own
Own the core architecture across the stack: backend services, APIs, mobile app performance, infra, and observability.
Build for scale and speed: Our systems support 30K+ weekly active users — and growing fast.
Craft world-class mobile experiences with React Native and native performance optimization.
Ship backend services in Node that are fast, secure, and reliable.
Collaborate tightly with design and product to bring intuitive, high-impact features to life.
Establish engineering best practices for performance, testing, CI/CD, instrumentation, and deployment.
Lead major initiatives from zero-to-one, with urgency and autonomy.
What We’re Looking For - Must Haves
Experience Previous CTO, co-founder, or equivalent experience with proven end-to-end ownership of a commercial product's entire software stack.
Skillset Expert-level React and TypeScript proficiency.
Deep expertise with backend systems, APIs (Node, Python, or similar), infrastructure and architecture.
Ability to implement Figma designs with high fidelity (you understand the subtle differences between drop shadows and borders and can always tell if the design looks different from the final product).
Use AI to build faster, but do not fully rely on AI for outsourcing thinking
Personal Comfortable operating with high agency, high urgency, and a high bar for quality.
Based in NYC or willing to relocate - this is an in-person role.
What We’re Looking For - Nice to Haves
Deep React Native experience, including advanced performance profiling and optimization.
Experience with high-fidelity animations (Reanimated, Lottie, Rive, Framer).Background in health tech, behavior change, gamification, or AI-driven products.
