Job Title: Project Engineer – Heavy Civil & Underground Construction
Location: Midwest Region (Travel Required)
Industry: Heavy Civil, Hydro, Utility, Geotechnical Projects

We are looking for a Project Engineer who wants to be hands‑on, working both in the field and office on complex, high‑impact projects. Some travel within the Midwest region is required.

Key Responsibilities
Assist in interpreting
drawings and specifications
for field crews and craft supervision
Perform
quantity calculations
by taking measurements and determining percentage of completed/installed materials and work
Assist in the preparation of
work plans and work packages
Assist in
field surveying and layout work , including elevations, control points, and compilation of as‑built data
Order and schedule material deliveries to ensure project efficiency
Perform material takeoffs from drawings, specifications, and contract documents
Perform basic engineering calculations and technical drafting to support field operations
Assist Project Manager with data gathering and preparation for submittals and transmittals to customers, vendors, subcontractors, governmental agencies, and internal use
Assist in maintaining basic project record keeping, including daily reports, photographs, RFIs, and memorandums
Enter data into the job cost system and participate in reviewing cost reports with job site management
Support cost tracking, job costing, and reporting
Assist in generating change orders and as‑built data to be reviewed by the Project Manager
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a construction‑related field (Engineering or Construction Management)
2-5 years of combined experience in heavy/civil projects (experience on dam projects preferred)
Strong work ethic – willing to do what it takes to get the job done and do it right
Passion for heavy civil construction and problem‑solving
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
Team‑oriented but able to work independently when needed
Willingness to travel regionally for project assignments
Ability to work for ECI without requiring sponsorship for employment now or in the future
Authorized to work in the United States
