As the Children’s Room Lead, you will lead a team of 1-2 others workers, and together provide a safe, loving, and enriching experience for the children of our adult students. Your role helps children to flourish, and enables their parents to have focused time to study English and hear the gospel of Jesus Christ. FTNDC Work Location, Hours, and Compensation
: You will serve at the ministry site in Alexandria (2932 King St, Alexandria, VA 22302). This is a part-time position, 12 - 15 hours per week. The core work hours for this role are: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 8:45 am - 12 pm There may be additional hours from 8 - 8:45 am or 12 - 1pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays to help with setup, material prep, or special events. There may be additional hours available on Mondays for setup. Our ministry year runs late-August to the beginning of June. There may be additional opportunities for work in June and July. Primary Responsibilities Help Early Childhood Program Lead with weekly setup of classrooms Help Early Childhood Program Lead with material prep for classrooms Lead age-appropriate activities that help children become familiar with English Help with check-in and check-out of children Help manage, coach, and encourage other childcare staff Listen to and address parents’ concerns, elevate parents’ concerns to the Early Childhood lead when appropriate Treat all children with care and compassion Uphold safety standards Help children with toileting/diaper changes as needed Help the cleanup of the childcare space, including sanitizing toys and play spaces Participate in meetings, trainings, and prayer times Required Qualifications Christian in good standing with his/her local gospel-centered church Fully support the mission of FTNDC Affirm FTNDC’s statement of faith Satisfactory background check Flexible to changing needs Comfortable with working with all age groups the program serves (6 m - 5 yrs) High School Diploma or GED 2 years of experience working in early childhood programs 1 year of experience in a leadership or supervisory role Physically able to perform tasks, including sitting on the floor, bending, standing, and moving tables and chairs during weekly setup and clean up of the space Must be able to lift children weighing up to 30 lbs regularly Enjoy working with children Teamplayer Ability to understand and speak English at an intermediate level Child and Infant First Aid/CPR certification - can be obtained once hired Preferred Qualifications Experience in working with nonprofits and/or ministries Experience working in mixed-age group classrooms Experience working in multicultural communities Educational background working in early childhood education For the Nations DC Mission and Statement of Faith All FTNDC staff, volunteers, board members, and partner churches must affirm the following mission statement and statement of faith: Mission:
