The PRN Pharmacist at Bunkie General Pharmacy provides comprehensive pharmaceutical care, ensuring the safe, effective, and appropriate dispensing of medications in a retail setting.
Works on an as-needed basis, which may include on-call hours, to support the pharmacy’s operational needs.
Review prescriptions issued by physicians or other authorized prescribers to ensure accuracy and determine necessary formulas and ingredients.
Compounds and dispenses prescribed medications, drugs, and other pharmaceuticals.
Determines the correct day supply for insurance billing using standard formulas and processes.
Provide patient education on medication use, potential side effects, drug interactions, dosage, and proper storage.
Offers consultative services to customers regarding over-the-counter medications and health products.
Supervises and directs pharmacy technicians, including training, assigning tasks, and monitoring workflow.
Collaborates with healthcare providers to clarify prescriptions and optimize pharmacotherapy.
Ensures accuracy of all electronically entered data to maintain pharmacy records, billing systems, and inventory.
Adheres to established procedures for quality assurance, controlled substance security, and hazardous waste disposal.
Monitors drug inventory levels and assists in procurement as needed.
Ensures compliance with all state and federal pharmacy regulations.
Responds to emergency and on-call situations requiring immediate pharmaceutical support.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited institution. Active and unrestricted pharmacist license in Louisiana. Two to four years of related experience and/or training preferred. Familiarity with pharmacy management systems and electronic prescription processing. Requirements
