Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system at UChicago Medicine as a Registered Dietitian II within the Clinical Nutrition Department, specializing in Bariatric Surgery. In this role, the Registered Dietitian II delivers evidence-based medical nutrition therapy to bariatric surgery patients across the continuum of care, supporting high-quality, patient-centered outcomes. The dietitian conducts comprehensive nutrition assessments, develops and monitors individualized nutrition care plans, provides structured patient education, and collaborates within an interdisciplinary bariatric team. Practice is guided by institutional standards, performance improvement initiatives, and regulatory and accrediting requirements consistent with an academic medical center. EssentialJobFunctions: Provide evidence-based medical nutrition therapy (MNT) for bariatric surgery candidates and post-operative patients. Conduct comprehensive pre-operative nutrition assessments, including weight and dieting history, disordered eating risk, readiness for surgery, and micronutrient status. Deliver structured pre- and post-operative nutrition education on diet progression, protein and hydration goals, and vitamin/mineral supplementation. Provide longitudinal post-operative follow-up to assess intake, tolerance, adherence, and clinical outcomes. Identify and manage nutrition-related complications, including malnutrition, micronutrient deficiencies, dumping syndrome, intolerance, dehydration, and inadequate intake. Escalate nutrition-related concerns or red flags to the bariatric care team as appropriate. Provide nutrition care for patients undergoing bariatric procedures, including sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass, and revision surgeries. Qualifications: Successful completion of completed program, dietetic internship, or other experience approved by the Commission on Accreditation of Dietetic Education MS degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or other relevant major, or BS/BA in Nutrition, Dietetics or other relevant major with completion of didactic program in dietetics if necessary AND Board specialty certification (e. g. Certified Specialist in Pediatrics, Certified Nutrition Support Clinician, Certified Specialist in Pediatric Critical Care) relevant to position. 3 or more years of clinical experience preferred, but we will consider dietitians with less experience At least 1 year experience in an ambulatory setting Member of the American Dietetic Association or relevant practice group(s) preferred Licenses: Registered Dietitian (RD) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist (LDN) by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Division of Professional Regulation Position Details: Job Type/FTE: Full-time Shift: Days – 4 days per week, 10-hour days Location: Hyde Park and River East Clinic; Hybrid role (flexibility for in-person clinic and telehealth appointments required) Unit/Department: Clinical Nutrition CBA Code: Non-Union Why Join Us

The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position. The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
