Cape Fox Facilities Services (CFFS) is seeking an experienced Histology Lab Manager to support the NIH.
The total hourly pay for this exempt position is $70.82 for up to 40 hours per week. This rate represents the company’s good faith and reasonable estimate of possible compensation at the time of posting. Histology Laboratory Manager
Provide services required to support animal studies, such as assist the Federal Task Leader with leading a team of histology professionals tasked with supporting facility pathologists in the performance of necropsies and preparing histology slides for analysis.
Identifies and troubleshoots common problems relating to laboratory methodology and instrumentation under the direction of the Senior Veterinary Pathologist and oversees organization and management of digital pathology database.
Schedules staff to assist with necropsies and complete histology work in the laboratory.
Operates in the BSL-4 laboratory, conducts histology, immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridization protocols.
Develops and optimizes new protocols as requested by the Senior Pathologist to support research staff.
Travel Requirements 0 - 10%
Job Requirements Travel and Training Requirements
Travel may be required, at the discretion of the Task Leader.
All Travel must be approved in writing by the Contracting Officer.
Training includes any NIH and/or HHS required training for access to and work in the IRF BSL2 and BSL4 laboratories.
Other Requirements
Work will be performed up to 40 hours per week during normal business hours, Monday-Friday, excluding Federal holidays.
However, work can run past business hours and flexibility will be needed, to potentially include weekends and holidays. The contractor will be responsible for scheduling.
Telework may be authorized if approved by the Task Leader, COR, and the Contracting Officer.
Must be able to work in a BSL-4 setting with select agents and be enrolled in the NIAID-IRF Frederick Biosurety program to include passing and maintaining Tier-III security clearance.
Specific Qualifications
Minimum of a B.S. degree from an accredited college or university.
Minimum of 5-years histology experience with Histotechnologist (HTL) certification.
Previous recent BSL-3 or BSL-4 (preferred) experience required.
Occupational Health/Physical Requirements and Worksite Hazards
Occupational health/physical requirements is required.
