Summary: Medical Technologists provide information for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease by conducting medical laboratory tests, procedures, and analyses with little or no supervision. The job includes preparing samples for examination, using automated equipment and specialized instrumentation, performing numerous complicated tests simultaneously and accurately interpreting the results in a timely manner to enable the clinician to utilize the data when making treatment decisions. The job requires multitasking and quick decision‑making skills, good judgement and performance under pressure. May be called upon to be Tech in Charge. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology from an accredited institution. Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Physics or Biology will be considered at the discretion of the hiring manager. Registry for Medical Laboratory Technician (ASCP or equivalent) preferred; must be registry eligible. Possess language, math, and reasoning skills for analysis, interpretation, and valid conclusion during data collection and procedures. Good communication skills with the public and other hospital staff. Completes training in at least two rotations within the first six months, as required per hospital. Possesses the desired attitude and knowledge for other duties as assigned. Authorized 0.80 hours bi‑weekly.
