Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro Acute Epilepsy Monitoring unit, requiring Level 1 trauma experience and a current AZ or compact RN license.
Responsibilities
Position is in a hospital-based Neuro Acute Epilepsy Monitoring unit with telemetry
Unit features 48 beds, including 10 epilepsy specialty rooms
Typical patient population includes epilepsy, brain tumors, subdural hematoma, TBI, scoliosis surgeries, and other neurology cases
Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4 on both day and night shifts
Required to work 12-hour night shifts (7 pm to 7 am), including 4 weekend shifts per 4 weeks and 2 out of 4 major holidays
Possible floating to other Med/Surg or Tele units
Uses Cerner EMR system
Ventilation support involves BiPAP, managed by RT
Self-scheduling is available
Charge RN and resource RN present on all shifts
Daily responsibilities include neurological assessments, management of patients undergoing Trend EEG monitoring, and care for a wide range of acute neuro cases
Day 1 orientation includes a pass/fail simulation lab evaluating sterile technique and core clinical skills
Staff must adhere to strict appearance standards, including natural hair color and no facial piercings; men must be clean-shaven for fit testing
Team is supported by nurse aides (PCTs), pharmacy, and respiratory therapy available 24/7
Scrub color is steel (Grey's Anatomy / steel)
First-time travelers may be considered if all requirements are met
Candidates may not have been directly employed with any related health system in the past year
Travelers must have their own transportation
Requirements
Active AZ or compact (NLC) RN license required at time of consideration
Must have at least 2 years of RN experience including Level 1 trauma experience
Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
Must pass a dysrhythmia (Relias) exam before acceptance, with a maximum of two attempts
Must pass a sterile technique skills assessment for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes on day 1 of orientation
Two recent professional references required, including at least one supervisor
