Full-Time Sr. Electrical Engineer – Power The Sr. Electrical Engineer – Power

will work in our global New Product Development (NPD) team that is responsible for modular integrated data center row and rack-based solutions. They will be responsible for evaluating and ensuring the electrical integrity, interoperability, and compatibility of integrated IT infrastructure systems, including racks, power distribution units, and thermal management components in new product development programs and customer projects. They will work closely with cross-functional team members and provide production support during factory integration. They will help assess and find solutions that positively impact production and quality, and participate in and lead design reviews with customers, engineering team members, and other internal work teams.

The ideal candidate has proven experience in electrical engineering, specifically in data center infrastructure, exhibits strong technical leadership capabilities, and possesses excellent problem‑solving skills with a hands‑on approach. Responsibilities:

Select electrical equipment and assemblies that satisfy NPD and project requirements

Analyze and document requirements for electrical architecture of rack and row-based products, aisle containment, wall‑mount products, and communication interfaces, with a primary focus on designing and evaluating electrical compatibility and integration of system components

Develop comprehensive electrical systems in compliance with NEC and safety regulations

Design and select power system equipment and components

Create and manage 3D models of components, equipment, and assemblies

Prepare and maintain technical documentation and BOMs related to mechanical integration, compatibility studies, and design reviews, including:

Power schematics (single and three line)

Power calculations

Lighting and power distribution plans

Grounding and bonding systems

Fire safety and suppression systems

Monitoring and control systems

Installation and maintenance documentation

Participate in, communicate, and support updates and changes to the “standards playbook” for all relevant stakeholders, ensuring clarity, alignment, and timely awareness across engineering, product management, and business unit teams

Help clarify and adapt existing Vertiv guidelines for system‑relevant application and easy implementation in new product developments, and provide feedback from practical design and integration work to drive continuous improvement

Participate in cross‑functional design reviews and work with engineering and product management teams across business units to ensure new product development aligns with requirements, while providing recommendations for improving system interoperability, serviceability, and manufacturability

Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in electrical design

Provide engineering support to manufacturing during production and testing

Support pre‑sales team in solution development, quotations, solution presentations to customers

Manage multiple ongoing projects and switch tasks when situations arise

Work directly with Procurement and material vendors on component sourcing and selection

Mentor and advise design work of other team members

Requirements:

BSEE or equivalent; master’s degree or Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus

Minimum 7 years of experience in electrical design for new product development, preferably within IT infrastructure or related industries

Strong understanding of industry electrical safety and EMC standards and regulatory requirements, including UL/IEC 62368‑1, IEC 60364, IEC 61000, EN 55032, and NEC

Proficient in 3D CAD wire modeling; experience with Creo, Revit and AutoCAD a plus

Knowledgeable in short‑circuit fault and selective coordination analysis

Ability to interpret and create electrical drawings and specifications

Ability to research new designs, technologies and electrical construction methods for data center equipment and facilities

Demonstrates excellent problem solving and communication skills (written and verbal)

Work independently and is highly motivated to initiate and accept new challenges.

Exhibit effective planning and information management skills

Possess positive team‑oriented attitude and desire to innovate
