Position Summary This role is a leader in the provision of patient care utilizing the nursing process within the framework of the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code for Nurses, and Scope & Standards of Practice. The nurse delegates, directs, and assists licensed and ancillary team members; assumes accountability for quality patient outcomes; exhibits sensitivity to cultural, ethnic, and religious diversity; and supports the company’s philosophy of nursing.
Education
Required—Registered nursing diploma.
Preferred—Associate's degree in nursing.
Work Experience
Required—None.
Preferred—Experience directly supervising or managing others.
Certifications
Required—Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice.
Required—Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
Preferred—Certification in clinical specialty area.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs)
Good organizational and time management skills; self‑directed and capable of good judgment.
Good interpersonal skills.
Ability to work with and maintain confidential information.
Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment with minimal supervision.
Leadership skills.
Job Duties
Effectively uses the nursing process in the delivery of patient care.
Assesses learning needs and implements teaching strategies appropriate for the diverse needs of patients, families, and other groups or disciplines.
Communicates, delegates, and manages nursing team resources (human and fiscal), serving as a leader and partner on the interdisciplinary team.
Uses data, information, and knowledge to evaluate and promote change in order to achieve optimal outcomes.
Embraces concepts and behaviors that enhance customer satisfaction and employee morale and improve the profession of nursing.
Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including respect for privacy, method of introduction, adapting explanation of services or procedures, requesting permissions and communication style.
Performs other related duties as required.
Additional Responsibilities Remain knowledgeable on current federal, state, and local laws, accreditation standards, and regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensure compliance with all such laws, regulations, and standards.
Physical & Environmental Demands Heavy work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds frequently, or 10 to 20 pounds constantly to move objects. Exposure to blood, body fluids, and tissue; occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous medications or waste. Work requires walking or standing to a significant degree, and may include pushing/pulling of materials.
