About the Role At Fivetran, we're revolutionizing how companies access their data by building the most reliable and efficient data pipelines in the industry. To accelerate our mission, we are seeking a foremost authority on databases to join our presales organization.

This is a pivotal, strategic role for a deep database expert who thrives on solving the most complex data replication challenges. As our Principal Database Specialist, you will be the central nervous system for database expertise within our global presales organization. You will partner with our largest prospective customers to architect elegant solutions, while simultaneously acting as a force multiplier that elevates the skills of our Sales and Sales Engineering teams. Your influence will extend directly to our Product and Engineering leadership, where you'll champion customer needs and shape the future of Fivetran's database replication capabilities.

This is a full-time position based remotely in the US.

Technologies You'll Use While you'll be an expert in several, you should be comfortable navigating complex customer environments that include: Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, SAP HANA, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Sybase, Ingres, and their variants.

What You'll Do

Serve as the ultimate technical authority on database replication during our most critical and complex sales cycles.

Architect and present elegant, robust solutions to solve the toughest data integration challenges for prospective customers.

Partner directly with Product and Engineering leadership to act as the voice of the customer, drive the product roadmap, and resolve critical technical escalations.

Develop and deliver masterclass-level training, documentation, and best practices to elevate the database expertise of our global Sales and Sales Engineering teams.

Spearhead internal specialist groups and drive strategy for key database-related initiatives across the company.

Skills We're Looking For

Deep, Hands‑On Database Mastery: Extensive experience as a senior Database Administrator (DBA), Database Architect, Backend Engineer, or high‑level Consultant. You've not just used databases; you've built, managed, and scaled them in complex, mission‑critical environments.

Architectural Fluency: Mastery of diverse database deployment models, from on‑premise monoliths to cloud‑native, distributed SaaS architectures. You understand the nuances of security, networking, and performance in each.

Replication Subject Matter Expert: Proven experience with native and third‑party replication tools. You understand their strengths, weaknesses, and how to position Fivetran effectively against them.

Trusted Advisor Presence: A rare blend of profound technical depth and exceptional communication skills. You can command a room of CIOs, architects, and DBAs, building credibility and influencing key decisions.

Pay Range Salary: $187,797–$234,746 USD

On Target Earning: $234,746.25–$293,432.50 USD
