Position Summary The Senior Manager of Assessment, Institutional Research, and Compliance will play a key leadership role in advancing Hebrew Union College’s mission and supporting its continuous improvement by building and implementing systems that align compliance reporting, institutional research and assessment, and academic quality assurance. The Senior Manager of Assessment, Institutional Research, and Compliance will strengthen HUC’s data usage processes, build a cohesive culture of assessment and effectiveness, improve the quality of our programs and student outcomes, and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations. This position reports to the Registrar and collaborates with other Registrar’s Office employees to maintain accurate student data and compile regular student data reports to further institutional operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities The essential functions include but are not limited to the following:
Assessment: Academic Quality Assurance
Responsible for planning and executing HUC’s processes related to assessment of student learning and achievement and assessment of institutional effectiveness.
Lead, design and implement academic quality assurance through an assessment of our academic programs and student learning.
Collect, review and analyze data of learning assessment; review the effectiveness of assessment activities and suggest improvements. Analyze academic assessment data and use appropriate methods to report results, with particular emphasis on findings that influence institutional decision-making and policy development.
Create tools to visualize and enhance the interpretation of assessment results and support program managers in using their data to identify success stories and note areas for improvement.
Support strategic development of college-wide plans for program learning outcome alignment to course objectives and to profiles of HUC graduates. Collaborate with administrators, faculty, and staff in various departments to use assessment data to create and revise policies and processes that support academic excellence, student support, and program effectiveness.
Manage course evaluation platform (currently Empower) and direct the implementation of term course evaluations. Promote the use of evaluation data to improve pedagogy and student learning. Oversee periodic revision of current course evaluation forms in collaboration with faculty and school/program directors.
Develop and provide assessment trainings and resources for faculty and staff.
Create and manage repositories for assessment data, files, and reports.
Institutional Research
Develop and apply institutional research tools and measures to inform leaders and departments on the efficacy of efforts to improve and to develop a culture of assessment.
Collect, summarize, interpret, and translate College institutional data into trends, key findings and areas of concerns, deficits, key performance indicators, opportunities, action item suggestions for the college leadership.
Collect external data for comparative purposes to strengthen strategic initiatives, understand markets, and assess both institutional and environmental strengths, challenges, trends, and strategic opportunities.
Oversee and maintain the primary source of institutional data to be used in all external, local, state and national reporting, forecasting, and evaluation.
Write and edit reports, including graphs, charts, and narrative data for internal and external audiences.
Collaborate with administrators, faculty, and staff in various departments to coordinate assessment of institutional effectiveness efforts.
Respond to ad hoc requests for institutional data from administrators, faculty, and staff in various departments
Compliance Systems
Develop and implement systems for all state, federal, and accreditation compliance reporting.
Maintain inventory of compliance requirements, designated compliance owners, and senior management accountable for compliance risk management. Data.
Data
Monitor data audits as needed to ensure their accuracy, reliability, integrity, and compliance.
Conduct periodic assessments of compliance activities across campus.
Conduct periodic reviews of policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, university, and campus policies.
Process
Work with institutional compliance owners to coordinate the production and publication of all compliance reports.
Convene a small cross-sectional team of those engaged in data collection who will meet periodically to address concerns and ensure effective compliance data tracking.
Provide thought leadership on compliance and regulatory needs for new strategic initiatives across state, federal and global markets.
Participate on and/or lead committees or working groups related to HUC’s accreditation.
Determine, with the Registrar and Provost, instances in which compliance issues need to be referred to general counsel or Chief of Staff to the President.
This job is remote, but occasional travel to New York, Cincinnati, and Los Angeles can be expected.
