**Registered Nurse (RN) - Operating Room**

**A Brief Overview**

The Registered Nurse is responsible for the provision of nursing care based on AORN standards of care and professional nursing practice: accountable for outcomes of nursing care delivered.

**What you will do*** Prepares patients for surgery and addresses their concerns.* Ensures the operating room is sterile, and secure necessary supplies and instruments for surgery.* Hands over medical supplies to attending surgeons during operations.* Monitors patients’ physical and emotional well-being throughout the care continuum, and observes patient vital signs.* Informs attending surgeon of issues and anomalies.

**Education Qualifications*** Associate's Degree in Nursing. (ADN) Required* Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. (BSN) Preferred* Master's Degree in Nursing. (MSN) Preferred

**Experience Qualifications*** Previous experience in an acute care critical care setting Preferred

**Skills and Abilities*** Works with patients, families, physicians, and other health care providers.* Knowledge of equipment and appropriate use* Knowledge and compliance in the Universal Protocol* Knowledge of proper patient positioning

**Licenses and Certifications*** Registered Nurse - South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation in good standing with South Carolina Board of Nursing Required* Basic Life Support Certified - American Heart Association within 30 days of hire and recertification every two (2) years Required* Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Certified - American Heart Association Preferred
