At Disney Experiences Technology, our team creates world-class immersive digital experiences for the Company’s premier vacation brands including Disney’s Parks & Resorts worldwide, Disney Cruise Line, Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa, and Disney Vacation Club. The Disney Experiences Technology team is responsible for the end-to-end digital and physical Guest experience for all technology & digital-led initiatives across the Attractions & Entertainment, Food & Beverage, Resorts & Transportation, and Merchandise lines of business as well as other initiatives including the MyDisneyExperience app and Hey, Disney!

Would you like to be a part of a team that contributes to every stage of the Disney attraction life cycle, from Blue Sky to Sustainment? As a Senior Software Engineer on the Modeling, Simulation, and Training Tools (MST) team, you will build software tools that are used to provide detailed engineering simulation and analysis services internationally for Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI), Park Operations Line of Business, Transportation, Engineering Services, Entertainment, and other Global Engineering & Technology partners.

These services include systems-level simulations of our rides and attraction; Software-In-the-Loop (SIL) or Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) software design/testing platforms; multi-agent simulations; training simulations; large-scale transportation simulations; statistical analyses; dynamic robotic electro-mechanical and controls system simulations; finite element analyses; rigid or flexible multi-body dynamic simulations; and development of signal processing and optimization algorithms.

You Will

Lead and assist in the development of desktop applications and software APIs for use by internal engineering and creative partners.

Partner with Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI) Creative, WDI Ride, Engineering Services, Industrial Engineering, and MST to identify requirements and use cases for attraction simulation development.

Provide technical mentorship and leadership to other software developers.

Write proposals that include job assignments, scopes of work, validation plans, and budget.

Manage budget and schedule for software development projects.

Write unit tests and regression test documentation for software.

Write detailed documentation for software, both for developers and users.

Assist users with troubleshooting and resolving bugs in deployed software.

Provide computer hardware and software expertise to multi-disciplinary teams to influence purchasing decisions and system designs.

Develop and review detailed mechanical and system-level simulations using various simulation software and software development environments.

Visit under-construction and operating attractions to understand their operating principles.

You Will Have

Five (5) or more years of experience with the design, implementation, and testing of Windows/Linux applications using C, C++, and/or C#

Five (5) or more years of experience with industrial control equipment, such as Rockwell or Siemens PLCs and/or Beckhoff GPCs.

Experience with networking communications such as sockets, UDP, TCP, and other industrial protocols

Experience developing high-performance and/or real-time applications or simulations

Willingness to learn new technologies and languages, and apply them to solve engineering problems

Proficiency in object-oriented design principles

Experience with writing unit tests, functional tests, and integration tests for software

Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and assess software errors to develop and implement solutions

Practice using engineering software and software development environments (e.g., Visual Studio, VS Code, Rider, etc.)

An understanding of source control tools (e.g. Git, GitLab CI or similar)

Knowledge of mathematics and engineering fundamentals

Proven ability to lead a highly technical project team in the development of software applications, including architecting solutions, mentoring new team members, and project management

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting directly with partners, internal customers, and users

Ability to be a proactive team member, willing to support and collaborate with other developers to achieve project milestones

Preferred Qualifications

Engineering within the entertainment industry, ride and show control systems, and/or troubleshooting PLC hardware

Scripting languages including PowerShell and Python

Proficiency in Agile software development practices, including Scrum, sprint planning, retrospectives, Jira, etc.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or Equivalent from ABET-certified curriculum.

Post-graduate engineering degree preferred.
