The HVAC Team Lead
is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations within the HVAC division—including leadership, scheduling, bidding, installation, service work, and customer communications. This role blends hands-on technical skill with administrative responsibility. You’ll mentor technicians, ensure quality standards, assist with job costing and estimating, and represent Van’s professionalism on every project.
Key Responsibilities Leadership & Administration Oversee, mentor, and support HVAC technicians in the field. Coordinate workload, scheduling, and job assignments to ensure efficiency. Oversee compliance with company standards, safety procedures, and quality expectations. Assist with hiring, training, onboarding, and performance evaluations. Maintain accurate job records, documentation, and daily reports. Maintain Van’s installation standards of exceptional quality and workmanship Willingness and ability to climb into attic/crawl spaces Maintain Van’s standards with a ‘customer-first’ perspective Establish and maintain a good working relationship with all team members Maintain a Van’s branded appearance at all times per company policy Meet and exceed individual Key Performance Indicators (KPI)
Job Bidding & Planning Conduct site visits to evaluate scope of work and provide accurate estimates. Collaborate with the office team on proposals, budgets, and timelines. Help develop division-level strategies for efficiency, growth, and customer satisfaction. Review plans and specifications to plan labor, materials, and workflow.
Field Work – Install & Service Oversee HVAC system installations, including heat pumps, furnaces, ductless units, and ventilation systems. Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair HVAC equipment in residential and light commercial settings. Ensure proper system startup, testing, and customer walk-throughs. Maintain a high level of workmanship, safety, and professionalism on every job.
Qualifications 2+ years of HVAC experience, including installation and service. Leadership or crew lead experience strongly preferred. Strong understanding and troubleshooting ability for heat pump systems, gas furnaces, ductless systems, ductwork, and controls. Ability to read and interpret plans and technical documents. Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. EPA Universal Certification required. Strong communication, organization, and customer service skills. Ability to work independently and support a growing team.
