Job Title: Payroll Tax Specialist

Hiring Organization: Rose International | Location: Abbott Park, IL, USA 60064

Work Model: Onsite | Shift: 9 AM – 5 PM | Employment Type: Temporary Full-Time | Estimated Duration: 3 months | Min/Max Hourly Rate: $25.00 – $28.00 per hour

Position Overview We are seeking a Payroll Tax Specialist with strong backend payroll experience, specifically focused on post-payroll processing and payroll tax compliance. The ideal candidate will have solid experience in payroll tax processing, a high level of attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment.

Key Responsibilities

Process and support federal, state, and FICA payroll tax activities following payroll execution.

Prepare and submit payroll tax filings and support tax testing initiatives.

Manage and respond to payroll tax notices from state agencies.

Coordinate with external tax vendors, tax providers, and government agencies.

Handle Power of Attorney (POA) documentation and third‑party authorizations.

Support multi‑state payroll tax compliance requirements.

Maintain accurate records and ensure timely resolution of tax‑related issues.

Communicate effectively through internal ticketing systems and attend required meetings.

Required Experience, Knowledge & Skills

2–3 years of payroll tax experience with a strong focus on backend/post-payroll processing.

Solid foundation in federal, state, and FICA payroll taxes.

Experience with payroll tax filing and tax testing projects.

Prior experience working directly with state agencies.

Strong attention to detail, consistency, and self‑motivation.

Ability to manage high‑volume workloads in a fast‑paced environment.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
