Position Summary This role encompasses both strategic and tactical (i.e. hands‑on) responsibilities. It requires a broad knowledge of all aspects of IT including operations and networking. The ideal person for this position is analytical, strategic and has strong communication skills. Prior experience with premise‑based servers and cloud applications is required. The ability to plan and execute projects within time and budget constraints is a must.
The IT Manager is responsible for the acquisition, operation, integration and problem‑solving aspects of both hardware and software systems in a multisite organization and is the final point for troubleshooting IT issues for the business. This role partners with the CFO to maintain our technology roadmap and set information technology strategies for critical areas including data security, disaster recovery/business resumption, server management, data warehouse utilization, ERP Cloud management, reporting and AI tools, hardware lifecycle management, etc., along with assessing new solutions for employee and consumer facing technologies and telecommunications.
The IT Manager is responsible for all functional IT areas and supervision of the IT staff, systems, and networks within the IT scope of business. This includes installing, configuring, and maintaining network infrastructure (including routers, switches, firewalls, and the connections to servers and workstations), system backup/restoration, IT security, Group Policies, upgrade strategies/policies, etc. They will assist the Help Desk Technician with end‑user support including account maintenance, system configuration, setup, and requested baseline configuration changes. Position is responsible for the acquisition, deployment and retirement of hardware and software.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee Helpdesk Support Technician and provide support as required (Provide 2nd and 3rd level IT/Helpdesk support).
Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure.
Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, application software and system management tools.
Deliver the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability.
Maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies.
Responsible for improving and maintaining enterprise quality security protocols of all points of entry to Exxel infrastructure.
Responsible for all web administration tasks, web domain management, and maintaining secure web access to systems.
Participate in the design of information and operational support systems.
Maintain quality service by establishing and enforcing organizational standards.
Responsible for procurement purchases and recurring infrastructure costs.
On‑call and off‑hour shifts expected.
Maintain internal shared documentation on infrastructure layout, processes and all pertinent infrastructure information.
Work with and act as a liaison for the business as the technical lead for establishing relationships, contract negotiation, renewal, and compliance, and working with third‑party providers for implementation on IT projects.
Manage financial aspects for IT, including purchasing, budgeting, and budget review and pursuing cost‑saving strategies.
Maintain and support all corporate IT assets including physical and virtual assets, domains, physical and cloud infrastructure, telecommunications, and technology needs for Exxel Outdoors.
Work cross‑functionally regarding the strategic IT requirements to meet business initiatives and KPIs.
Lead technological projects relating to any potential merger and acquisitions Exxel Outdoors may procure.
Be the onsite technical expert on all internal business intelligence and business consumer facing technologies including EDI, e‑commerce, WMS, and vendor and direct‑to‑consumer initiatives.
Maintain PCI compliance by implementing PCI DSS throughout system infrastructure.
Windows and Azure AD management required.
Leverage the strengths and unique perspectives of others within the organization and work with all stakeholders to reach a solution.
Work effectively as a member of various work groups to bring greater value to the overall organization.
Effectively manage multiple concurrent projects successfully.
Amazon Cloud experience a plus.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state‑of‑the‑art practices; participating in professional societies.
QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS
BS or BA degree in MIS, Information Technology, Computer Science or equivalent education and experience.
A minimum of five years of increasingly responsible IT systems support experience.
Strong project management skills and ability to make decisions independently.
General knowledge of network and collaboration tool administration.
Management of Office 365 tenants.
Telecom/data connectivity knowledge and enterprise VOIP system management required.
Hardware: Firewalls, switches, access points, servers, workstations/laptops.
Software: Windows OS, macOS, vendor‑specific software.
Tech Knowledge: Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy Management.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in and business application support related role.
5+ years' experience supervising people.
Budgeting experience, RFP, and user documentation experience.
3+ years working with Microsoft Business Central or similar ERP system.
Previous experience with Electronic Data Interchange, and order fulfillment processes or related software preferred.
Previous experience with SQL Server, C#, and .NET debugging, network fundamentals, Server OS helpful.
Experience in the following systems desired: Microsoft Business Central (Versions 14/18/22/current); SQL Server Management Studio; BigCommerce; CommerceHub; NuOrder; Shopify; Microsoft Office Suite; PowerBI; Zultys; Zebra Hardware; Microsoft/Mac OS; Cloud File Sharing; Cisco Hardware; Ubiquiti Unifi Hardware; Fortinet; Mimecast; Hype‑V or VMware; Freshservice; AI tools.
Ability to learn new software platforms quickly.
Ability to communicate effectively with business partners inside and outside the organization including technical and non‑technical audiences.
