Job Summary
Provide professional and administrative support to the City’s Budget Office in the development, implementation, and monitoring of the Annual Operating Budget and Five-Year Capital Improvement Plan. Responsibilities include gathering and analyzing financial data, tracking departmental performance measures, and ensuring compliance with City budget policies and procedures. This position offers an opportunity to gain practical, hands-on experience in municipal budgeting, financial analysis, and public administration within a collaborative and learning-focused environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
Support performance measurement, data analysis, and reporting to evaluate City programs and services.
Assist with budget development and monitoring, including preparation of the Annual Operating Budget and Five-Year Capital Improvement Plan, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations.
Maintain accurate financial and performance data, prepare reports and presentations, and support strategic planning and performance-based budgeting initiatives.
Collaborate with City departments and external partners, provide administrative and coordination support, and assist with training, communication, and ongoing improvements to budget processes.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent plus a minimum of four (4) years of budget or accounting experience
Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Public Policy, Business Administration, Government, Economics, Finance, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in public-sector budget preparation, financial analysis, or administrative support.
Experience working with spreadsheets, databases, or performance metrics.
Experience in a government or public-sector environment.
Key Competencies
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook); experience with financial or data visualization tools preferred.
Knowledge of public sector budgeting, performance management, strategic planning, and financial analysis.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills with excellent attention to detail.
Ability to collect, interpret, and present data accurately.
Clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Physical Requirements
Primarily sedentary role requiring the ability to communicate, read, and use standard office equipment.
Occasional light lifting (up to 10 lbs).

Compensation & Pay
Biweekly Pay: Employees receive salaries every two weeks.
Salary Range: Competitive salary structure with potential for higher starting salaries.
Merit Increases: Annual performance-based raises up to 4%.
