Job Summary
Northwestern University Mesulam Center for Cognitive Neurology and Alzheimer’s Disease (Mesulam Center) seeks an exceptional social worker who demonstrates a pronounced interest in working with persons with neurocognitive disorders and their families in a diversity of roles. The Social Worker will work as a team member to provide clinical care for persons living with dementia and their families and achieve the goals and objectives of the Outreach, Recruitment and Community Engagement (ORE) Core, the Miller Family Buddy Program, in addition to other psychosocial initiatives. Specific Responsibilities
Provide clinical social work services to patients and families of the Northwestern Medicine Neurobehavior and Memory Clinic and center research participants. Complete psychosocial assessments and provide education, counseling and linkage to appropriate community services. Collaborate with multi-disciplinary team of behavioral neurologists, neuropsychologists, psychiatrists, and other clinicians through weekly clinical rounds and patient care discussions. Facilitate monthly caregiver support groups. Participate in the coordination and planning of a major annual educational event – Alzheimer Day. Assist in the recruitment, coordination and program management of the Glen and Wendy Miller Family Buddy Program which pairs first year medical students with a person living with dementia for an enriching experience. Participate in the coordination and facilitation of other psychosocial interventions and research initiatives based on center needs (ex: dementia care partner psychoeducational programs). Participate in the recruitment and retention of research participants. Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in social work or related field. Will consider an MSW eligible for LCSW within 6 -12 months. Possess competencies in individual, family and group counseling. Possess knowledge of community resources for persons living with dementia – both older adults and young onset ( Possess an understanding of healthcare policies affecting persons living with dementia and their caregiving families. Experience working with diverse communities and demonstrated ability to be interculturally competent and culturally responsive. Possess superior organizational and time management skills. Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in social work or related field with 3-5 years of clinical experience. LCSW – Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Salary and Benefits
Target hiring range: $56,782–$66,950 per year. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
