Responsibilities

Provide technical expertise for database design, development, implementation, information storage and retrieval, data flow and analysis.

Develop relational and/or object‑oriented databases, database parser software, and database loading software.

Project long‑range requirements for database administration and design.

Build database structures that fit into the overall architecture of the system, making trade‑offs among data volumes, number of users, logical and physical distribution, response times, retention rules, security, and domain controls.

Work primarily at the front end of the lifecycle—requirements through system acceptance testing and Initial Operational Capability (IOC).

Translate requirements and data into a usable database schema by creating or recreating ad‑hoc queries, scripts, and macros; update existing queries; build complex systems using queries, tables, ODBC, and cloud methodologies.

Assist with recommendations for, analyze, and evaluate system improvements, optimization, development, or maintenance efforts.

Required Qualifications

Active TS/SCI security clearance with agency‑appropriate polygraph.

Five (5) years experience as a Database Engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.

Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university, or substitution of five years DBE experience for the degree.

Desired Technical Skills

Database experience using MongoDB or MariaDB (deployment, management, debugging, scaling).

Python, Django or Flask; REST endpoint development; micro‑service model; Swagger.

AWS, C2S or other cloud experience.

Docker; Visual Studio Code or similar IDEs; JSON and/or XML serialization.

Jira, Confluence; Git version control.

Experience working in Agile environments.

Compensation Hourly pay range: $58.47 – $97.11. Pay rates vary with contract, education, experience, and geographic location.
