What You Will Do As a Subcontract Technical Representative in the Logistics Modernization, Systems, and Subcontract Management group, you will perform as a single point of contact for customers, stakeholders, and subcontract managers. You will ensure compliance with safety, quality, cost, schedule, security, and environmental subcontract performance within the terms of the subcontract while managing the subcontract from cradle to grave to ensure robust and consistent operations of the facilities throughout Los Alamos National Laboratory.
Subcontract Technical Representative 2 Salary: $94,500 – $154,600
As a Subcontract Technical Representative 2, you will help support the oversight of over 600 subcontracted employees that support diverse and multiple facets of operations throughout the site.
Subcontract Technical Representative 3 Salary: $104,100 – $172,200
STR level 3 is expected to independently manage subcontracts from conception to closeout, mentor level 1 and 2 STRs, and support STR 4s.
What You Need
Relevant experience in directly or indirectly related fields (e.g., foreman, field engineer, contracting, procurement technician, or craft).
Background in providing maintenance support services across operational or facilities environments.
Understanding of internal and external policies and procedures (including LANL or equivalent private‑sector standards). Ability to execute safe, secure, and high‑quality maintenance and site services tasks. Familiarity with regulations affecting maintenance and site‑services subcontract management.
Knowledge of subcontract lifecycle processes including bidder pre‑qualification, subcontract award, performance monitoring, back‑charge procedures, and resolution of claims or disputes.
Proven ability to set, meet, and execute performance goals as both a collaborative team member and a self‑directed employee.
For higher level: thorough knowledge of subcontract policies and procedures outside and/or inside Los Alamos National Laboratory; demonstrated ability to manage projects as a self‑directed employee or team member, including setting and managing goals and leading the preparation/presentation of oral and written reports.
Education at lower level: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction, or Contracts Law + 5 years related experience or equivalent. Education at higher level: Bachelor’s Degree + 8 years related experience or equivalent.
Desired: Familiarity with financial, acquisition, and invoicing applications such as Oracle or Ariba; success working with fast changing demands and priorities; experience with policy interpretation and application to subcontracted work; experience in formation and administration of subcontracts; success as a change agent or visionary; Q clearance.
Essential Job Functions Walking, climbing stairs, typing, keyboarding.
Work Location The work location for this position is onsite, Los Alamos, NM.
Work Schedule This position may require 24/7 coverage, including shift, weekend, or other flexible scheduling.
Position Commitment Regular appointment employees must serve a period of continuous service in their current position before being eligible for posted jobs. The position commitment for this role is one year.
