Business Development Specialist – Troutman Pepper Locke LLP Troutman Pepper Locke LLP is looking for a Business Development Specialist to support our Corporate practice and collaborate with our Marketing and Business Development teams.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Assist in developing and implementing strategies to cultivate business with current and prospective clients.

Conduct client, prospect, industry, competitor, and market research and analysis to inform targeted business development efforts.

Collect matter data for inclusion in Foundation, the firm’s experience management system.

Assist in creating high‑quality, tailored pitch materials, responses to RFPs, and client presentations.

Coordinate the planning and execution of events, sponsorships, webinars, and speaking engagements – including venue research, budgeting, logistics, marketing communications, vendor coordination, program development, on‑site support, tracking and follow‑up.

Work with the firm’s communications team to promote attorneys’ successes, including identifying media, publishing, and speaking opportunities aligned with profile‑raising objectives.

Assist with coordinating practice group thought leadership and blogs, including strategy development and content posting.

Identify cross‑practice connections and opportunities to increase internal visibility.

Assist with legal directory and award submissions.

Coordinate marketing expense approvals and help manage practice budgets.

Handle InterAction‑related functions – develop and maintain marketing lists and business development activities, research, reports, etc.

Identify and respond to internal and external client inquiries promptly and seek feedback/follow‑up as appropriate.

Highly motivated, creative, and collaborative.

Organized and attentive to detail.

Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple projects under pressure in a deadline‑driven environment across assigned practices.

Ability to work effectively both independently and with teams to promote consistent workflow processes.

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to provide high‑quality service and partner effectively with diverse groups within the firm and external contacts.

Ability to self‑manage and work independently in a hybrid, and in‑office setting.

Ability to manage and maintain confidential client information.

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word).

Proactive and able to remain flexible while delivering high‑quality work in a fast‑paced environment.

Flexible to manage demands outside of traditional business hours.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business, finance, or marketing.

Minimum seven (7) years of marketing and business development experience, preferably within a law firm or professional services organization.

Strong project and process management experience.

Compensation Hiring Salary Range: $100,000.00 – $120,000.00 (dependent on factors such as location, education, and experience).
