Overview Henrico County Public Schools is the sixth‑largest public school division in Virginia, serving more than 50,000 students in 72 schools and program centers. The Head Coach will lead the girls’ field hockey program, providing high‑level instruction, coaching, and student‑athlete development.
General Statement of Duties The head coach manages all aspects of the hockey program: coordinating practice sessions, coaching student‑athletes during regional and state competitions, recruiting and supervising an assistant coaching staff, and overseeing fundraising while maintaining sportsmanship and teamwork.
Essential Duties
Prepare players physically and mentally for interscholastic competition through practice, fundamental skills instruction, and rule knowledge.
Check eligibility forms and submit them to the Student Activities Director.
Ensure all physical and academic requirements are met by each player and submit information for the VHSL eligibility list.
Supervise cleaning, storage, and proper care of all equipment.
Requisition supplies, uniforms, and equipment through the Student Activities Director.
Foster positive school‑community relations and keep the community informed of the athletic program.
Conduct pre‑season meetings with parents.
Prepare daily practice schedules and conduct practice sessions.
Attend all VHSL clinics.
Follow county financial policies regarding collection and receipt of funds.
Minimum Qualifications
Demonstrated coaching or player experience supporting program management.
Previous coaching experience, knowledge of the sport, and current understanding of coaching techniques and strategies.
Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and mentoring skills.
Coaches with prior college experience are strongly encouraged to apply.
Salary Minimum: $3,223.75 per season.
