GSK is looking for an Instrument Technician to maintain instrumentation used for the operation of manufacturing, process, and facility equipment at a biopharmaceutical manufacturing facility.

Key Responsibilities

Provides maintenance and repair services to support the biopharmaceutical process.

Performs repairs and calibration maintenance to process control instrumentation, safety instrumented systems, or other instrumentation for manufacturing equipment such as HVAC systems, GMP utilities, and plant utilities.

Maintains, repairs, calibrates, and installs control elements including sensors, switches, transmitters, positioners, signal conditioners, and related devices.

Uses Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Input/Output (I/O) schematics, logic diagrams, and diagnostic tools to locate, troubleshoot, and repair malfunctioning equipment within a process control or electrical system.

Safely shuts down, locks out, and performs verification of zero energy for systems or equipment to allow for inspection, maintenance, or renovation to instrumentation and control systems.

Uses calibration and other computer system databases by entering information, retrieving records, and generating reports.

Coordinates with vendors to procure replacement instrumentation and related hardware, and supports inventory of spare parts.

Works independently or in a team setting in compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and applicable regulations to perform routine and non-routine (corrective) maintenance.

Communicates effectively with the maintenance group, line managers, and internal customers at the facility, alerting them to the technician’s scope of work and any issues discovered during maintenance activities.

Basic Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED.

3+ years of experience as an instrument technician in an industrial (oil, nuclear, power, manufacturing) or pharmaceutical environment with maintenance responsibility.

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated ability to perform job duties with limited supervision.

Demonstrated familiarity with cGMP’s, regulatory guidelines, and standard operating procedures.

Understanding of P&IDs, electrical, and I/O schematics.

Ability to work in a multifunctional team environment.
