Job Description Shape the future of water infrastructure with AECOM. We’re looking for a driven and collaborative Project Engineer to join our expanding Water/Wastewater team in Buffalo, NY. Your Impact
Lead and contribute to water, wastewater, and water resources projects in Buffalo and throughout the Northeast.
Prepare and review design calculations, engineering drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
Develop technical reports and memoranda that inform and guide project decisions.
Conduct field investigations and site reconnaissance to support design and planning.
Assist with project management tasks including scope, schedule, budget tracking, and QA/QC compliance.
Mentor junior engineers and foster a collaborative, inclusive team environment.
Support proposal development, cost estimating, and project scheduling.
Prepare project work plans and health and safety documentation.
Represent AECOM in client meetings and technical presentations.
Build strong client relationships through direct, face‑to‑face engagement.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering with a focus on water, wastewater, or water resources plus four years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Proven ability to produce engineering deliverables including reports, drawings, and specifications.
Strong technical foundation in civil, water, wastewater, or water resources engineering.
Preferred Qualifications
7 years of experience in water/wastewater projects.
Master’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
Professional Engineer (PE) license in New York or ability to obtain within 6 months.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Strong organizational skills and a proactive, client‑focused mindset.
Demonstrated ability to make independent engineering decisions and lead project components.
