Duties

Perform simple and routine maintenance of grounds, exterior structures, buildings, equipment and related utilities. Assist higher graded maintenance workers or tradesmen in the performance of their work. Perform minor carpentry repairs using simple hand tools, minor painting with brushes and rollers, minor plumbing such as tightening and replacing fittings and washers. Mow grass and maintain trees and shrubs. Perform routine maintenance around campground sites and trails, collect trash, clean and service chemical toilets, restrooms and other facilities. Operate a light truck to transport supplies and materials to and from work sites. Cut‑off Dates

This is an open continuous announcement with multiple cut‑off dates. Applications will be considered throughout the open period. The initial cut‑off is Monday, January 12, 2026. Conditions of Employment

U.S. Citizenship required. Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication. Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirements for males. Direct Deposit required; participation in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program. Pathways Agreement required. Valid driver’s license required; submission of Motor Vehicle Operator’s License and Driving Record. Vehicle operation may require training to operate a four‑wheel drive vehicle. Uniform required; compliance with National Park Service uniform standards; allowance provided. Minimum age: 18 years old, or 16 years old with high school diploma or equivalent, or a formal vocational training program, or current enrollment in secondary school with part‑time work under a formal student employment program. Government housing may be available. Qualifications

To be eligible for this pathway position you must: Be enrolled in a degree‑seeking program or a 1‑year certificate program. Enroll on a half‑time basis. Maintain a minimum 2.0 grade average. Attend an accredited educational institution. Provide transcripts with name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade‑point average or class ranking. Be enrolled for the next semester/quarter following the vacancy period. Job‑related factors: Ability to perform the work without more than normal supervision (screen out). Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, and read blueprints. Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment. Knowledge of equipment assembly, installation, repair, and related trade practices. Knowledge of materials. Technical practices (theoretical and artistic). Use of measuring instruments. Physical Demands

Work from ladders, scaffolds, and platforms; frequent lifting of objects up to 40 lb; standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in uncomfortable positions. Working Conditions

Outdoor work in temperatures ranging from –40 °F to 90 °F+; exposure to dust, dirt, wind, rain; potential contact with dangerous chemicals and moving equipment; exposure to electrical shocks and biting insects. Evaluation and Application
