Position Summary We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Cardiac/Vascular Sonographer, Part Time – Garden City.
Job Responsibilities
Perform all cardiac ultrasound studies, including echocardiograms, treadmill stress echocardiograms, pharmacologic stress echocardiograms, studies with ultrasound‑enhancing agents, and agitated saline studies.
Perform all vascular ultrasound studies, including carotid duplex, upper and lower extremity venous and arterial duplex studies, abdominal aortic studies, renal artery duplex studies, iliocaval duplex studies, mesenteric duplex studies, plethysmography, and ankle‑brachial index studies.
Adhere to NYU protocols, IAC, and ACR standards for all scans.
Provide patient comfort, privacy, and education, verifying patient identity by ID bracelet or verbal acknowledgement.
Document scans and maintain all pertinent patient data in departmental systems.
Alert medical staff to abnormalities that require immediate attention.
Compare present studies to previous studies to monitor changes in status.
Assist with accreditation compliance and documentation (IAC or ACR) and submit studies for accreditation application.
Position may require lifting, pushing, or moving patients and equipment over 150 pounds, with or without assistive devices.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate’s degree in a related field and completion of an accredited program in cardiac and vascular ultrasound or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Registered with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) and Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) OR with Cardiovascular Credentialing International as a Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) and Registered Vascular Sonographer (RVS). Must have one cardiac credential and one vascular credential. Candidate may apply if they have one credential with the requirement to obtain the other within one year of hire.
Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
Must maintain active registry status.
Required Licenses Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer, Registered Vascular Technologist, and related credentials as required by the professional registries.
